Repair Work for Puri Jagannath Temple's Ratna Bhandar to Begin December 16

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to commence repair work on the Ratna Bhandar, the treasury of the 12th-century Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha, on December 16th. This decision follows the approval of the temple management’s Niti sub-committee and a comprehensive geophysical survey conducted by the ASI earlier this year.

The Ratna Bhandar, renowned for its intricate architecture and historical significance, will undergo repairs to ensure its structural integrity and preservation for future generations. The ASI’s repair work will be conducted in phases to minimize disruption to the temple’s daily rituals and devotee access.

The temple administration has emphasized that the repair work will not interfere with the regular darshan (viewing) of the deities and that devotees will continue to have access to the outer part of the temple during the repair period.

The Ratna Bhandar repair project is a significant undertaking aimed at safeguarding this invaluable cultural heritage site and ensuring its continued existence for centuries to come.
