Uniqueness: During this annual festival, held in June or July, the three deities of the temple – Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra – are taken out in three elaborately decorated chariots pulled by thousands of devotees to their aunt’s temple in Gundicha. The return journey, called Nilakantha Yatra, takes place around 10 days later.

Famous for: Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra(Procession of Goddess Nanda)
Uniqueness: This 7-day festival in August or September commemorates the journey of Goddess Nanda, the mother of Lord Krishna, from her home in the Himalayas to her maternal home in Kumaon. The procession features a beautifully adorned idol of the goddess carried on a palanquin, accompanied by priests, musicians, and dancers.
